You should wait at least a day. The salon would more then likely tell you to wait like a week. But I would at least wait a day.

I have my hair colored and highlighted on the same day by my stylist. I never have any problem with my hair. I really screwed my hair up a long time ago and have everything done at the salon, but I don't see why you can't color at home and make an appointment for highlights later in the day. Ask your stylist.
