My Highlights are growing out and i want natural hair so I don't have to dye it anymore?

I have some natural highlights and i added some with the box that you use at home. Now my highlights are growing out and my hair does not have as many natural highlights. I now have a line basically about an inch from my head of where they stop and then my hair is darker (between my scalp and highlights only about an inch of darker hair-roots) I want my hair to be natural so that i don't have to keep dying it (im afraid if i dye it it will not turn out the color of my actual hairand i would have teh same problem when my hair grows again) but i would like for it to blend in. Can anyone help?

use a color glaze that's opposite the color of ur highlights.. if ur highlights are blonde-ish then use a brown glaze... if its brown or any other dark color then use a blonde one...

if u're afraid the glaze will make your whole head darker or lighter.. then use a mascara wand to apply the glaze in areas where the highlights are placed... use the glaze in about 5 times and it should darken or lighten your current highlights...

Personally i dont think it is a good idea, but if you want a change get one of those wash in, wash out ones and have an experiment. If it goes well, then have it done, if not then you can choose another.

Also my sister, has the same kind of hair colour as Vanessa and she died it a really warm reddy, brown colour and it looked amazing!!! Look around for other hair colours that you like or think will suit you. Good Luck!

Blonde peek-a-boo highlights would make you unique to all those girls with black or brown, and personally, I think it would look much prettier. Ashlee Simpson had that light brown bob and underneath she had blonde peek-a-boo highlights, there's a link under sources if you want to see what I'm talking about. There aren't a lot of pics of that kind of coloring so go for it. You could also do copper or red, any color you would use to traditionally highlight your hair would probably work and you can use the samples from your salon and place them on top of each other or under your hair to see what it would look like. As you can see, I've coloured my hair dark brown before, but now I've got 4-5 inches of pure black roots.

I have an appointment with my hair dresser on Tuesday, and I REALLY don't want to ask her - "What do YOU think I should do?" Just seems so pathetic, doesn't it?

I think you should dye it a deep burgundy red i had the same problems with my roots and with that kinda of color you can't really tell where there at ! and the hair cut you should do long and layered but make sure you also get it thinned out it looks better that way and maybe some long bangs like just underneath your eyes and maybe to the side that would be soo cute ! well i hope my idea works for ya :)

do not use feria on your hair it has metallic dyes in it that will ruin your hair . when u put professional color ( what u get in a salon) it will literally make ur hair feel like wet spagetti or worse just fall out period. If he did, and if you are a returning customer... and he just messed up, I don't think you should have to pay him. He over processed you. Well... Did he mess them up. If so, then NO, you shouldnt tip him if you already did once. He messed them up and I guarantee, they are STILL not going to turn out how you want them. He is going to apply a toner to them, which will darken them. Most likely to the point of where you cant even see what he's done to begin with. Everytime I've had a stylist mess up something, they use a toner and pretty much make my hair look like i didnt have anything done. Even my husband cant tell they did anything at all and it still cost like 100 dollars. Dont tip again.

someone told me to use baking soda and water to wash the color off in these kinds of situations, but i personally would just put a subtle brown dye on top of it. one of those natural ones that only dye a little, so that you still have highlights but they're not as light.

No way! I actually had to put a stop pay on a check once because my hair was so awful looking. It was my first time to try a new person out and for some reason she just didn't show up to work so since I was going out of town in 2 days I let another person do it. Big mistake! I went elsewhere to get it fixed so since I did have to pay for that I did a stop pay on my other check. If they mess up then they should fix it for free--you already paid and tipped for what you wanted and didn't get.

LOL Get a short sassy hair cut, to where it's alittle longer around your face and shorter in the back with the color I was talking about. Bet that would be way cute. wow, first off, go to sally beauty and buy 3 or 4 boxes of salon care color remover, this is great for color correction, but it doesn't have any bleach in it, and it does damage your hair. each box is about $13. this is going to either leave your hair a hideous orange color or a green color, depends on what the base was in the black color you were using. Go to Sally's again, if your hair is orange, then get one color that has a neutral/beige base and one that has a green/ashy base. If your hair is green, then get a color that has a gold or red base. if your lightening it THAT much I STRONGLY recomend going to a hairdresser cause black has heavy pigment %26amp; is hard to shft. To get your hait to a carmel shade you would have to bleach it to lift out the black first but doing this at home will probably leave it patchy plus using bleach at home if you dont know what your doingwith it is a bad idea.

Best thing to do would be call up your local hairdressing places ask if they ned models. This is when the hairdressersin training o t for you but tthere are professionals there telling them what to do so they dont mess up. Its either free or a really minimal price like 鎷? for this. OR call up your local college, they do the same thing for their trainees they need models too %26amp; again, it'll be under a tenner which is less than youd spend on the hair dyes to use at home %26amp; no risk of it messing up.

Probably the best way to do this is to gradually lighten your hair first. Either go to a salon and get the colour lifted, and then they will put the caramel colour on top. The only problem with this is that your roots will probably be a different colour when the hair dye grows out. What i would do is highlight my hair with peroxide, then add the caramel. Keep doing the highlighting untill you have the colour you desire. I regularly dye my hair black and that's what i do if i want it a lighter colour.

I would advice that you see a specialist in your salon as they have been handling your hair and they know what is Best for it.

best to go to the salon, but i had this problem once, the best thing to do is have lots of blonde highlights all over then leave it a few weeks then have it done again. if youre from the uk, use a bleaching kit called jerome russell its the best, more stronger for a high degree of lift on darker hair, good luck.

No way! Dont pay that. You can get partial highlights for $75 at a upper-scale salon, and $100 for full highlights. Dont pay anymore, I found those are the average process. Dont go the drug store route until you need a touch-up.

I always get Professional Highlights, they are VERY pricey but there is a definite results difference from those done at a salon from drugstore ones. You are not paying for the coloring agent (it costs the salon like 5 bucks too) You are paying for the expertise!

I have done drug store ones and they came out streaky and the color was off.

Definitely get the high-lights at a salon. Call different salons in your area and ask them how much they charge to put in high-lights. Don't go with the cheapest one but don't go with the most expensive. It's like shopping. Price comparing is OK.

Don't use the drug store highlights!!! There's a risk of messing up your hair, and also they fade a lot faster than professional highlights. But don't spend $125 on the highlights either. If you don't wear your hair up, you can get away with partial highlights. They look just as good--- but there's nothing underneath the top layer. And if you do wear your hair up a lot-- get full highlights (they're all over your head). Most salons don't charge over $100 for full highlights. Whatever you decide to do, make sure it's something that you are comfortable with.

in my personal experience highlights should always always be done by someone who knows what they are doing. partial highlights are a lot cheaper, but they dont cover the whole head. you should look into getting highlights on the top and lowlights on the bottom.

if you cant afford the salon price, check around your area for cosmeotlogy schools. they offer them for around 25 bucks and its done by people who are trained to do it, often times wiht teacheres over their shoulders to make sure it comes out right.

i always go to these places as they do really cute up to date styles for so much cheaper! i defff recommend it as opposed to doing it yourself.

If he is the one that messed it up, it depends... Did he know exactly what you wanted to do? If he did, and if you are a returning customer... and he just messed up, I don't think you should have to pay him. He over processed you. Well... Did he mess them up. If so, then NO, you shouldnt tip him if you already did once. He messed them up and I guarantee, they are STILL not going to turn out how you want them. He is going to apply a toner to them, which will darken them. Most likely to the point of where you cant even see what he's done to begin with. Everytime I've had a stylist mess up something, they use a toner and pretty much make my hair look like i didnt have anything done. Even my husband cant tell they did anything at all and it still cost like 100 dollars. Dont tip again.

someone told me to use baking soda and water to wash the color off in these kinds of situations, but i personally would just put a subtle brown dye on top of it. one of those natural ones that only dye a little, so that you still have highlights but they're not as light.

No way! I actually had to put a stop pay on a check once because my hair was so awful looking. It was my first time to try a new person out and for some reason she just didn't show up to work so since I was going out of town in 2 days I let another person do it. Big mistake! I went elsewhere to get it fixed so since I did have to pay for that I did a stop pay on my other check. If they mess up then they should fix it for free--you already paid and tipped for what you wanted and didn't get.

How do you color black hair blonde and put in chunky highlights?

I just used Palty mecha blonde and when I was waiting for the color to take I noticed it said the color bleeds out of the nozzle. Anyways, I put on lots of it on the top of my head and all around my hair-line. But because time wasn't on my side I wasn't too careful to put it in foils (remember it is my first time doing it on my own) and I wanted to get the color down to my roots so I ended up with lots of color around the area I applied it to but with no chunky highlights.

My question is how do you put in chunky highlights? Do I have to use a board, comb and foil? Can I apply the different colors one after the other (ie: one color in one foil, another color in the foil folllowing) without the bleach, color mix going bad?

I was told by a hairstylist today that the mixture will stay active and I will have plenty of time to paint the highlights in because the mixture will start to react with my hair only after it has been applied.

Bleach would damage your relaxed hair. Any chemical process, whether it's a relaxer, color, perm or highlights alters the integrity of the hair. Think of it as "controlled" damage. But, if it's done right, you shouldn't get breakage. Talk to the professional who relaxed your hair about it. If you do your relaxer at home, then find a professional with a good reputation and have a consultation with them. If you see someone, or know someone with relaxed hair, and they have highlights. Ask them where they get it done. Even if they are a stranger, people usually consider it a compliment. Once your hair is chemically treated, you can never restore it back to a healthy hair follicle. Conditioners and treatments are only cosmetic. There is no such thing as "rebuilding the hair".

Even though your hair is pretty healthy now, having a chemical process done on top of another chemical process can lead to damage, such as hair breakage and extreme dryness of the hair and scalp. I used to get highlights all the time in high school, and my stylist suggested I use children's relaxers after the coloring was done - mainly because the chemicals wouldn't be as strong as in an "adult" relaxer. Secondly, regardless if you get highlights done by foil or "cap and hook" method, the stylist should suggest you deep condition your hair at least once a month, and also use conditioning shampoos and conditioners to keep the hair mosturized. They will also use one on your hair after coloring it, as well. But, notice I said it "can" lead to damage, but doesn't have to. By keeping your hair mosturized, and using a good line of grease and other hair products (I prefer Motions) can really keep the health of your hair up.

Um I think highlights look really good on curly hair considering I have long curly hair and I have Brown hair w/ red and blond Highlights and i love it. but let me tell you, curly hair is very fragile which I had to find out the hard way. the chemicals in the curly hair causes it to dry out more and break easily which can give you more of a dry frizzy look IF you don't take care of it w/ color treated shampoo and conditioner and keep it all around moisturized. Color correction is never an easy process. What is your natural hair color? If you dont want to keep coloring your hair and your hair is not dark brown you will still have roots that grow out, and you will be forced to color your hair.

Dark brown does not lift easily if you need to try to match it back to your natural color.

If I were going to fix your hair, I would look at the color of your roots that are up close to the nape of your neck...find a color that is a couple of shades darker, but not too much, you still want it to kind of blend in with your hair....Next thing go to a beauty supply to buy your color so that you know for sure what kind of color you are getting. You will want something with a violet or green base to tone down the orange in your highlights.

A stylist will never promise a perfect color for color correction, and it usually takes a few tries to get the perfect color.

The above method will give you something that should leave you close to your natural haircolor, with enough color to cover and blend your highlights. Your highlights will probably still show, but they will be blended closer to your natural highlights and shouldnt be orange anymore.

You look for a base color. Usually if a color says it is ash, it has a green base.

Stay away from anything that says it will give you golden highlights...this equates to orange....

If you go to a beauty supply like Sally's the clerk can assist you....If you are forced to go to a store, make sure you read the box and see what it says about highlights and things like that....Read where the color name is, it should give you some type of hint as to what the base is....

If your natural haircolor is dark, dont go with black...There are very few people who actually have black hair...It is usually a mixture of colors so a dark brown should be fine on you.

BLONDE WILL NOT FADE AS THE HAIR IS BLEACHED. bleaching means to take out the natural pigment in the hair (the colour that our hair appears to be) but we all have the same undertones to our hair (hence why we go through stages whilst bleaching. from black to brown to red, orange/ginger then yellow and finally pale yellow) therefore it won't fade as it isn't a COLOUR with artificial pigment that has been put on (like red, brown, etc..) i would suggest you try to tone the highlights off with something like born blonde: http://www.clairolprofessional.com/dispe... these are temporary so you can use them safely, they will tone your highlights to a nicer blonde shade.

Like anything else, a new hairstyle and colour may seem like a great idea - and often it looks great. So give yourself some time to get used to it - new sometimes takes a little getting used to.

The highlights will fade (shampooing will help) but it will take time (probably a couple of weeks at least).

And it will grow out, but that will take a few months (hair grows about half an inch a month).

I'm sorry to tell you but highlights are permanent. Anytime you lift your hair from one level to another it's going to be permanent. I would suggest coloring your hair with a semi permanent closest to your natural shade. The semi permanents are less damaging on your hair than permanent.

Go to a professional to get this done. It will be less damaging than if you did it at home. Plus professional lines can be very conditioning and will add alot of shine.

Have you thought of just adding a few pink extensions? Most salons will usually do them for about $5 a strand and you can have them placed wherever you'd like.

It's a little different than what you described in your question, but you might want to consider it.

Personally i dont think it is a good idea, but if you want a change get one of those wash in, wash out ones and have an experiment. If it goes well, then have it done, if not then you can choose another.

Also my sister, has the same kind of hair colour as Vanessa and she died it a really warm reddy, brown colour and it looked amazing!!! Look around for other hair colours that you like or think will suit you. Good Luck!

take da sectios of da hair dat u wana highlite blond. seperate it from da rest of da hair... start by bleeching those hair to get blond..afta da bleeching process , wash it.. dry it... pick da blond hair n secure it wif sumthing so it dosnt come in contact with da black dye... then dye da rst of da hair black...or easier way...go to da salon....trust me....its not an easy job for da non professional to get it done...u dont wana over bleach ur hair...or u dont wana get dalmation spots on da already bleeched highlite .

Permanent dye won't get the bleach out of your hair - it will just add more chemicals. So you still won't be able to get the straightening. Best to consult a professional, or wait til they grow out.

yeah, dying your hair several shades darker would ideally eliminate your highlights, however, kkep mind that black

dye has a blu pigment to it and if you like to change your hair coler alot it will be next to impossible. a dark brown

dye wich has purple pigment to it is is easily changable.

as for japenese hair straighting, it'll most likley be ok with the dark hair dye, but id wait @least 2-3 weeks before

you straighten it, sometimes, all this stuff either dries or damamges your scalp and hair could fall out

don't buy black dye this may turn your hair navy blue use a dark brown one .if the Japanese thermal reconditioning is sensitive to chemicals then it is probably not a good idea to be dying your highlights out

Ok put down the color. The highlights can be covered but that is all that happens they get covered there still there just under another layer of chemicals. So your still putting your hair through alot of stress. The best thing to do is condition the crap out of your hair and get it in a healthy condition then do the straightner. Those types of straightner's also fade hair color so if you did color it first you will risk your hair fading to a not so cute color. Condition and get regular trims 4-6weeks and you'll be good to go. A great reconstructor for hair is Redken Extreme CAT use it 2-3 times a week for a month you'll see results.

By conditioning I mean deep-conditioners or reconstructors 2-3 times a week. Also in answer to question yes highlights are permanent but the only way to completely get rid of them is to grow them out or cut them out.

Hi! I have been getting my hair highlighted with bleach blonde highlights for the past 4 years or so. I haven't had any true problems of breakage. My sister is a beautician. The thing is that breakage all depends on the condition of your hair before highlighting and how well you take care of it after. Highlights aren't for everyone. If your hair is brittle and breaks before dying then it's definitely not a good idea to highlight it. If you get relaxers you want to make sure you get your highlights no less than 2 weeks after your relaxer and get your next one 2 weeks after you get your highlights. This prevents your hair from being a chemical disaster! After you get your highlights you want to make sure you use a good shampoo and conditioner and a good leave-in conditioner. I usually use Cream-of-Nature shampoo and conditioner and IC leave-in conditioner... all of which can be found at your local beauty supply store or Sally's Beauty supply. You also want to make sure that you stay away from too much blow drying. High amounts of heat will break your hair if you have the bleach blonde streaks. I usually do a roller wrap or occassionally flat ironing and I do fine. You also want to be sure to keep your ends well trimmed. Too many split ends will lead to overall breakage. Keep your hair hydrated with a light oil moisturizer or oil sheen. If you think your hair is shedding after the color treatment there is this stuff called Afogee (not sure if i spelled that right). It works really well with strengthening your hair. Hope this helped, but if you or your beautician don't think your hair is healthy enough to maintain during this process, maybe you should wait! Blondish hair when I was a baby. Hair turned a med-brown color with ash tones as I got older. In mid-thirties now. My hair is somewhat wavy. It straightens well with a flat iron. It curls but won't hold a curl for very long with a curling iron or curlers. I tried a couple of perms in the 80's but ended up looking like a poodle. When it rains I have some uncontrollable waves. During the dry days of winter my hair is straight. I have lots of hair but the hair strands themselves are somewhat thin. My eyes are med-brown. My face is oval. I have a prominent nose, large eyes, full but subtle lips. I'm a cross between Jennifer Lopez (face shape) and Gloria Estefan (nose), if you can picture that! I'm 5'2 and in shape. I work out at the gym daily so need a style that is easy to manage. My hair is currently about 2 inches below shoulders in layers. I would love to let it grow some more or keep the current length. White/yellow toned skin, light in winter tans easily in summer.

Sounds like you have hair like mine.... poor you lol. Personally I like to keep my hair at about the same length yours is, and at the moment I have some blondish highlights it, though I've had light brown highlights in the past. I just had my mom or a friend do them from a box. I generally keep my hair completely straight, and if I'm going somewhere nice flip the ends out. Of course they never stay that way :). Honey blonde highlights are really pretty as well. My hair sounds the same as yours and I help the wavyness by curling in medium chunks with a 1 1/2 inch barrel curling iron. Flip over hair spary and then scrunch for volume. This takes about 10 min tops

anytime you are going lighter with hair colour, there is NO SUCH THING as a temp!!!!! You will be taking pigment out of your hair, and it doesn't naturally come back!!

Temporary colours only DARKEN your hair, regardless of what the box says. You would be depositing colour into the hair, therefore it can wash out. You can use reddish tones, they would be considered temps as well.

I'd be rich for the amount of times I've heard of "temporary lighteners"!

i think you should leave it natural but if you do get highlights make sure that they are not too light. And about thinning it out, just remember that when it grows out again it will come back very thick. trust me, it happened to my friend. so don't thin out to much.

I get my hair done like that.. I have a dark blonde natural color but I get 2 sometimes 3 colors put in. I usually do beige blonde and a pale blonde and then a light brown... its so pretty and i get compliments all the time on it! I absolutly hate the yellow blonde hair color people put on their hair, its so trashy looking, not natural at all! Go with a soft blonde and stay way from the yellows. Beige blonde is the way to go!

I have similar colour hair and you could do what I did.

Basically I had a semi permenant, half head, lift. If that makes any sense lol. It made my hair a nicer blonde really, I also had a few highlights which added depth and interest.

All in all it was over 鎷?0 ($100) but I think it was worth it.
