Is your hair naturally balck or colored black? That makes a difference, because the darker the hair, the harder it is to lighten. Go for something more natrual, like caramel highlights, because if u put blue, red, green, etc in your hair, good luck getting it back out.

try a caramel color or a burgandy color i love it when women with darker skin tone and have black hair get highlights n have caramel or burgandy it looks really beautiful to me
