my question is: HOW long after the highlights (bleach) are put in is it ok to wait until u dye ur hair a color? is it ok to wait just a day!??

WAIT one second....Do not under any circumstances color your hair red from a box over blonde highlights. I'm a hairstylist...And the reason why you can't, is because over the counter hair colors don't know if you are trying to lift through your natural color, or just deposit color over an old highlite. All store brands use a 20 vol minimum developer to open up the cuticle... If you are just depositing color you need to use 10Vol, at min..5 if you have it. Red is the hardest color to get to stay in your hair because of the way the molecules stick together... I promise if you buy a box of red color and color your old highlites within 2 weeks, your hair is just going to be orange. And if you just replace it, your further damaging your hair. If you just had it done...you can cover it up...But let me ask you why? Did you do the color yourself? Or did someone else do it? If you did it yourself and lets say its not blonde but kind of yellow...You can fix that by having a hairstilist run a toner over it... And if you paid for it and aren't happy, you just return to the salon...And express why not.. They would be happy to fix it for you. However if its just your not likeing how you look in blonde...They will definitly charge you to change the overall color..
